Almost one and a half centuries of
history
The history of the Meilink Group dates from the year 1874. Bernard
Meilink set up a sawmill, which remained in the family until 1946.
After the sale of the sawmill to Frits Braam, the emphasis shifted
from sawing wood to the manufacture of boxes and the packaging of
goods, often for big customers such as Stork.
Growth and professionalisation
At the start of the 80s, Jacques Rikken took over. He introduced the first computer, and the company welcomed the digital age. Competitors such as Hoffman in Amsterdam and Varekamp in Utrecht were taken over. The box factory and packaging division of Philips were purchased and the service provision was further professionalised.
In course of the 90s, the Meilink Group was set up – through the takeover of Varekamp – with forwarding activities under the company’s own management. These days, with 300 employees, five companies and six branches, the Meilink Group is the market leader in the Benelux. Internationally, we are among the top industrial packaging companies.
